Participate in River Fringe

The District Council of Loxton Waikerie is proud to present River Fringe for its fifth season! River Fringe is a supporting local festival of the Adelaide Fringe, and all artist, venue and show registrations are made through official Adelaide Fringe platforms.

If you are a local or touring artist looking to get involved in Adelaide Fringe in the regions, take a look at the key details on the right on how to get involved.

  • Key Dates:

    • 25th August: Venue Registrations OPEN

    • 8th September: Artist & Show Registrations OPEN

    • 30th October: Registration Deadline (for printed guide and River Fringe subsidy)

    • 19th February - 21st March: Adelaide Fringe / River Fringe

  • The District Council of Loxton Waikerie will again support participating River Fringe artists through a registration subsidy program. Details Below:

    • Amount: $160 registration subsidy (applied at checkout on Adelaide Fringe registration platform)

    • Amount apples regardless of venue type (council or private)

    • Amount is regardless of local or touring artist, but the registered show must be at a venue within the District Council of Loxton Waikerie

    • Artists may only access the subsidy for one registration, unless they are also registering an event/show on behalf of a group

    • Subsidies will only be applied until the total pool ($3,200) is exhausted

  • For artists seeking to use a council owned/operated space, a River Fringe Venue Hire Form must be completed and submitted, prior to your event being accepted through AVR.

    During River Fringe, council offers free venue hire for council owned/operated spaces. In addition, council’s equipment bank is available for artists who may require additional support (dependent on availability).

  • The District Council of Loxton Waikerie is proud to support artists in the region through the work of its Arts and Culture Officer.

     Additional council support may include:

    • Inclusion within the ‘River Fringe Guide’ and council’s broader marketing campaign

    • Support with venue alignment

    • Equipment bank (subject to availability)

    • Production of large scale, community events

    • Programming of shows and events (within council-owned venues)

The River Fringe Mascot

Ozzie the Galah!

In 2026, The District Council of Loxton Waikerie launched a competition for Riverland graphic designers, asking for original mascot concept submissions for River Fringe Festival. Waikerie artist and graphic designer, Kari Cooper, took out the winning design with her ‘Great Case of the Aussie Galah’ concept.

‘The galah… an instantly recognisable icon of the Australian landscape. A lovable larrikin, bold, curious, social, and full of character. It’s expressive crest, playful posture, and unmistakable silhouette provide a rich foundation for a mascot that feels both authentically local and creatively versatile. As a bird found across the Riverland in large, lively flocks, the galah naturally reflects the community energy of the River Fringe Festival. It embodies the regions sense of fun, friendliness, and colourful spirit, making it the perfect ambassador for a festival built on creativity connection and celebration.”
