Pocket Galleries: Sculpture Workshop with Karl Raams

River Wordsmiths Monthly Meeting
The River Wordsmiths are a locally run writers group, meeting on the third Saturday of each month. Susie Skujins Workshop
Susie Skujins is a South Australian artist residing in and inspired by the beautiful landscape surrounding her home in the Waikerie region. Susie has been painting since she was a child, and with a visual artist and inventor for a father she was never short of a teacher or inspiration. Amidst life, Susie has returned to her practice in the past few years, finding inspiration through teaching others amongst the majestic scenery of the Riverland. Her work, a combination of acrylic and oil paintings, pastel and mixed media, makes the everyday of the Riverland astounding and mesmerising once again.

Yvette Frahn: Art in the Bush
Yvette Frahn has been creating since she was four years of age. Known as the artist behind ‘Spirit of Equine’, her passion for the arts was born when she cast her eyes upon a horse outside of her kindergarten. Since then, Yvette has taken her art to the world, including exhibitions in New York and commissions all over the US and Australia. This SALA, she will be bringing her art back to where her passion lies; with the local community. Join Yvette in her life drawing and/or mixed media abstraction workshops at The Bugle Hut, where she will teach you the skills she has discovered over a life time. Artworks created from the workshops will then be on display at The Bugle Hut, Bugle Hut’s incredibly restored historical venue.

Kari Cooper is an emerging Riverland artist whose style is based on the whimsical and illustrative art of fairytales and classic storybooks. Bold and filled with colour, her work delves into watercolour, pen and the occasional oil painting. Recently, Kari has exhibited her work at Kapunda Regional Gallery in ‘Folklore and Fairytales’, with an additional joint exhibition, ‘Enchanted Worlds’, upcoming at Chaffey Theatre. Kari’s artwork has the ability to connect with any audience, breaking the barriers of age, upbringing and perception by connecting people through the beautiful shared language that is illustrative art. This SALA, she will be displaying select works at Loxcare Hub and hosting the community favourite ‘Enchanted Butterfly Shadowboxes’ workshop.

Karl Raams is an emerging visual artist based in the Riverland. With a professional qualification in fine arts (visual) as well as art therapy, their work is both refined and conceptually developed. Despite a background in painted landscapes and scenes, Karl has recently developed their work to realign with their passion for fantastical themes. Blurring the lines between perception, reality and a dream like state, oil, gouache and mixed media artworks transport the viewer to an imaginary world through art. Their work will be on display in ‘Enchanted Worlds’ this October at Chaffey Theatre, with a small selection of works on display during SALA at Loxcare Hub. Arts on Terrace
The August Arts Trail is back again in 2025, a yearly event held by the Loxton Chamber of Commerce. Throughout August, East Terrace will come alive with art on display in select businesses. The activation event, Arts on Terrace, will see businesses open for Sunday special trade, with live art displays, sculpture competitions and creative workshops held throughout the streetscape. Head down to East Terrace on Sunday 10th August to support local business and witness arts in action.

Parish Hall Gallery: New Beginnings
Parish Hall Gallery is the latest art space edition to the Loxton township. Forming in May 2025, a group of eight artists; Annie Delanie, Daina Braddock, Jill Bond, Julie Noble, Leone Madden, Lorraine Mowbray, Lyn Anstey and Ruth Pfeiler have come together to create a local showcase of visual art. Encompassing landscapes, still life, collage, flora, fauna and resin amongst a variety of other mediums and methods, the collection is intriguing, diverse and explorative of the truly varied region in which we live.
Sista Girls Group Exhibition
Sista Girls is a newly formed Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Girls Art Group, encouraging cultural discovery and exploration through visual art. The group of twenty have been discovering their personal histories and individual connections to country under the leadership of Chloe Shorrock. These connections and histories have been conveyed into contemporary Aboriginal Art, through a combination of traditional painting, contemporary acrylic, sculpture, drawing and mixed media, on display for their inaugural exhibition during SALA.
Their mentor, Chloe, is an emerging artist and joint owner of Penangke Kemarre Arts, a space in which she and her daughter journey together to learn more about their Arrernte and Walpiri Indigenous cultures. Involved in education programs, community workshops and development, Chloe is both an incredible artists, advocate and teacher. Recently, Chloe was the successful runner up of the Flinders University FRRHSA First Nations Acquisitive Art Competition for her piece ‘Our Community’.

Kerry Servin: If You Walk Past It, You Accept It
Kerry Servin is a Loxton local artist with strong ties to the business community. Often exhibiting from a family owned store in Loxton’s East Terrace, Kerry’s latest collection of art explores the duty of visual artists, viewers and bystanders in the world of advocacy. Her work captures realistically, ensuring the viewer is immediately connected to the subject matter in high detail. Utilising a combination of graphite, charcoal, watercolour, pastels, acrylics and oils, Kerrys practice aims to shed light on some of the complex and pressing issues of the world today, whilst conveying her allyship.
