Sista Girls Group Exhibition

  • Loxton Business Hub 7 Bookpurnong Terrace Loxton, SA, 5333 Australia (map)

Sista Girls is a newly formed Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Girls Art Group, encouraging cultural discovery and exploration through visual art. The group of twenty have been discovering their personal histories and individual connections to country under the leadership of Chloe Shorrock. These connections and histories have been conveyed into contemporary Aboriginal Art, through a combination of traditional painting, contemporary acrylic, sculpture, drawing and mixed media, on display for their inaugural exhibition during SALA.

Their mentor, Chloe, is an emerging artist and joint owner of Penangke Kemarre Arts, a space in which she and her daughter journey together to learn more about their Arrernte and Walpiri Indigenous cultures. Involved in education programs, community workshops and development, Chloe is both an incredible artists, advocate and teacher. Recently, Chloe was the successful runner up of the Flinders University FRRHSA First Nations Acquisitive Art Competition for her piece ‘Our Community’.
